A genuinely tasty burger mainly let down by having to queue to get your order in.
Gourmet Burger Kitchen is one of the original restaurants that specialised in burgers. The clue is in the name for the type of fare they are aiming to serve and the good news is they are hitting the mark with the patty. Juicy, pink in the middle and perfectly composed with all the flavours coming together in that first bite. You’re on to a winner with this one. Having not visited GBK in several years we were pleasantly surprised at how good the burger was. The choice of toppings is wide and the sides aren’t bad either. We opted for the truffle cheese fries and although good, there was a fairly limited amount of truffle being added (first world problems though right?!).
The ambience in the restaurant is relaxed and, compared to our experience in Five Guys, you’d be happy to spend an evening here. The staff are pleasant but why, oh why, do you have to queue to place your order? Drinks and food are brought to the table, further refreshments offered but you have to get out of your seat and queue up next to people eating their dinner to tell the server what burger you’d like. Can’t this last part of the table service be added to the experience?
With the above added to the service and a bit more truffle this would be a top burger outing.
